đž The Truth About âHealth Issuesâ in Pugs & French Bulldogs
â and why the real problem isnât the breed
It happens all too often. You walk into a veterinary office with your beloved French Bulldog or Pug, and before your dog can even settle in, the diagnosis is already formingâwithout context, without nuance. âThey canât breathe properly.â âWe should schedule surgery to widen the nostrils.â âThis breed is known for health problems.â
If you own a brachycephalic dog, chances are youâve heard some version of this speech. And if you know how expensive these dogs are, you might also suspect that what they really see walking in⌠is a paycheck.
Now, Iâm not here to vilify all veterinarians. Many enter the profession with noble hearts and sincere intentions. But the current model of careâespecially when it comes to dogs like Frenchies and Pugsâis deeply flawed. I believe it's time to challenge the dominant narrative that blames the breed itself while ignoring the root causes of illness, most of which are entirely human-made.
đ˝ď¸ Letâs Start with Diet
Veterinarians routinely recommend (and sell) kibbleâa product that, if honestly labeled, might read more like:
âhigh-heat-processed imitation food-like substance made from diseased livestock, roadkill, and human waste products.â
Sound harsh? Watch the documentary Pet Fooled and decide for yourself.
Kibble is promoted as âscientificâ and âbalanced,â yet it leads to a cascade of problems: dental decay, inflammation, allergies, skin conditions, and immune dysfunction. Itâs marketed with slick packaging and veterinary endorsementâbut itâs often the beginning of a vicious health spiral.
𦷠Dental Damage from Within
Contrary to the myth that kibble âcleans teeth,â it actually sticks to gums and fosters serious oral disease. What follows is predictable: expensive cleanings, prescriptions, and sometimes even surgery.
And since most dogs hate being poked at, sedated dental procedures become commonâagain risking their health while benefiting the vetâs bottom line.
đŚ Parasite Prevention or Poison?
Weâve been taught that chemical parasite treatments are safe and routine. But these are literal poisons. Weâre told they only kill pestsânot pets. But that simply isnât true. If it kills, it harms.
Hereâs what Iâve discovered firsthand: since switching to a species-appropriate diet, fleas and other pests simply donât find my dogs attractive anymore. When the body isnât a waste dump, Natureâs cleanup crew has no job to do.
đ Vaccination: One Size Fits None
Tiny puppiesâsometimes just weeks oldâare injected with the same dose given to a full-grown St. Bernard. That isnât science. Thatâs a product protocol.
And the result? These small, developing bodies are forced to process an overwhelming toxic load before their immune systems even have a chance to mature.
Few people ask whatâs in those needlesâor what effect those ingredients have. Most just trust the system. But Iâve chosen another path.
𼊠Raw Food Isnât RadicalâItâs Natural
Veterinarians warn against raw diets and especially raw bones, claiming theyâre dangerous. Yet these foods are exactly what dogs were designed to eat.
In the wild, dogs and their ancestors didnât live off heat-extruded pellets. They hunted. They crunched bones. They thrived.
And mine do too. Three generations of raw-fed, unvaccinated, toxin-free Companion Doggos have no allergies, no dental issues, no chronic conditions, and no bad breath. Their coats shine. Their eyes sparkle. Their poop is easy to clean. And they breathe just fine.
đ§ Whatâs Really Causing the Health Crisis?
Itâs not the breed. Itâs the system.
Frenchies and Pugs are scapegoated to justify profit-driven care models that completely ignore root causes. But when you step outside the systemâwhen you take control of your dogâs health with natureâs blueprintâwhat youâll often find is this:
⨠The âproblemsâ disappear.
So no, the issue isnât your dogâs face shape.
Itâs what the world keeps doing to them.
And the good news? You can stop participating in itâstarting today.
